Summary

You can't use your reason… it's just gonna escalate the situation. Today, Alex (@AlexHormozi) talks about an instance wherein a vendor got extremely angry with him, how he dealt with the situation, and the advice his friend gave on how to combat these kinds of situations with empathy.

Welcome to The Gym Secrets Podcast where you can listen in on the Top 1% of Gym Owners to hear the secrets of what they are doing differently to get more customers, make more profit per customer, keep them longer, and do it all without sacrificing their personal lives. We've got roll up your sleeves kind of hustle with a little bit of cleverness and a lot of heart. We are 1% of gym owners and this is our podcast. Hosted by Alex Hormozi.

Timestamps:

(2:49) - After asking for advice, Alex learns from his friend “Anger is weakness. Neutrality is strength. Empathy is the strongest.”

(3:47) - In business rapport wins wars. If you can show genuine empathy for your customers, you have the strongest frame. You will always win

(4:42) - Whenever you encounter someone who is displaying strong emotions (i.e. anger, sadness, etc), the goal is to be empathetic. Ask yourself, “why is this person feeling this way?”

(5:59) - You have to step into their shoes and look through their distorted lens of the world to try and understand their reasoning. Then step by step, remove layers of filters to that lens, to hopefully bring them back to reality.

(7:00) -  Like we get offended because we think it's about us. We think what they're saying is a reflection of us. And that’s not just the reality. It’s about them.

(8:02) - If you can truly empathize with them, then you will always win the conversation
