Hi everyone, welcome to that spooky. I'm Johnny. And I'm Tyler. And this is a weekly podcast that's going to the store if you want anything.

Oh, well, maybe just a big chip if it's no trouble. Well, I mean, it's no trouble in the sense that I'm not planning on coming home.

So as long as you can deal with that. Okay, great trigger. You know, I had an uncle that did that once really legitimately. Yeah, he was going out to the store to get a pack of cigarettes. And I guess my grandmother had asked him to pick her up a pack of neo-citra.

And he's like, sure, no problem. Goes to the store, pops by a bar on the way home. And next thing he knows he's on the other side of the country starting his life in a new province by choice. Yeah, by choice.

Right. And a few guys who were like, Hey, we're driving from Nova Scotia to Walbert tonight. You want to come with and he's like, sure, I'll change my life.

Didn't tell anyone though. So he went to the store and then disappeared for about two weeks, I think. And then he just called them and was like, Hey, I'm living in Calgary now. Oh my God, they must have thought he was like fucking dead.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure they did, but he wasn't. Well, that's good.

Although he is no longer with us anymore. So rest in peace, Brian on that happy note. Welcome to spooky gate bullshit, everyone. And before we get into it this week, I just want to acknowledge something that's happening in the next few days.

That is pretty important. So June 28th, 2019 will be the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall riots. Yes.

So if you're not acquainted with what the Stonewall riots were, they were a multi day riot that started on June 28th of 1969 at the Stonewall in in New York. It was a response to police suppression of queer people. There were a lot of other things at hand at the time, but essentially police were rating the bar for the umpteenth million time arresting all the queer people and giving everyone else shit. And finally, they just said we've had enough and they started fighting back.

Yes, there is a little bit of contention about who through the first bottle or brick or whatever you want to call it. A lot of people say that it was Marsha P. Johnson. There are names of other people though that are on the table. But regardless, it was a huge moment and it essentially sparked the gay liberation movement along with bringing queer rights into the conversation of civil rights. Like we said on previous episodes, the first pride parades were to commemorate the one year anniversary of the Stonewall riots.

And it's pretty insane that it's been 50 years. Yeah. Yeah. So we just wanted to take a moment to acknowledge that this week. It's a super important moment in history. World Pride is kicking off in New York. There's going to be a ton of really cool shit happening. I can't wait to see it all go down on Instagram because you know I'm not going in those crowds. Oh no, mom.

But yeah, I don't think I can wish anyone a happy anniversary of the Stonewall riots, but a happy pride. Happy pride. We've set it a million times before and we'll just keep saying it. Yes. Now on the topic of pride, I have a fun little story to share with you all that was tipped off to me by a good Judy Mike. Okay. So have you ever heard of the YouTuber Elijah Daniel? Yeah. Okay. Well Elijah Daniel apparently bought a town recently. Oh, I heard about this. Yeah.

Yeah. So in response, so we all know or most people probably know that the Trump administration ahead of pride put out an announcement that forbid any American embassy in the world to fly a pride flag during the month of June. Yeah. Well, I mean for what it's worth. They also basically just said that you can't fly any flag that is not an American flag.

But I'm not apologizing for it because it's still a fucked up precedent to send, especially after you're patting yourself on the back for wishing everyone a happy pride month and being like, oh, not every president's done that.

Right. Like congratulations. Yeah. Fuck all the way off. Yeah. But anyway, YouTuber Elijah Daniel decided to retaliate against this by buying a town in Michigan. Now this town was called hell, like actually called hell.

H-E-L-L. And he basically saw that this town was up for sale on the internet. It has a population of just a couple dozen. And when he bought the town, the very first thing that he did as the owner of hell was renamed it gay hell.

That's the America that I want to see. Yes. So there's literally a picture of Elijah Daniel standing in front of a sign to hell with gay just like taped onto the sign.

Now Elijah went on to say that gay hell Michigan has everything a library, a place to lock your love in gay hell and even a wedding chapel to get gay married in hell.
