Is depression funny?

With time, depression is funny.

But from my experience of

trying to open up about it too soon,

I would say it needs a little time to breathe.

It's the hilarious world of depression.

Movies and TV and commercials have kind of an incomplete way of portraying the experience of new parents.

The baby is born and it's instantly cute and pretty.

The parents lose sleep but in a fun and relatable way and things pretty much work out great.

But that's not the only thing that's happening in the world.

But that often means that when things aren't working out great,

say when postpartum depression shows up for the mom,

that new mom can feel like she's failing that she's a bad person.

And that shame has built up so much in society that people don't talk nearly enough about those symptoms.

My guest on this episode wants to change all that and talk about it.
