Hello and welcome to full disclosure, a podcast project conceived to allow me to spend more time than is usually available in the radio studio with people that I find interesting.

And this week's guest, Angela Rainer, it's fair to say, it's incredibly

interesting, not least, because you feel, and I hope this doesn't sound inappropriate, but you

feel like part of the political furniture. But you haven't even been in Parliament very long.

No. At 2015, I came in and it's been quite a whirlwind. It's like almost like politics was turned on its head.

But, you know, I say that, you know, my background was really chaotic and we may get into that,

we may not, but let's just say it wasn't a conventional sort of upbringing. It maybe is for a lot of

working class people. I don't know. But it was certainly chaotic. And so therefore, when it all,

like, went crazy in Parliament, I actually thrived.

Because I weren't used to people saying nice things about me and thinking how is the answer to the question.

So therefore, that's kind of situation where it's quite hostile environment.

People are unsure about what's going on in the future.

That was quite natural territory for me.

So I actually thrived in what was probably one of the most turbulent times in Westminster.

So yeah, I think it did.

The idea that sort of, well, ego in a sense has never been a priority.

Well, you haven't had the luxury of development.

No, exactly. Because a lot of people who were in Well, you haven't had the luxury of developing the massive.

No, exactly, because a lot of people who were in Parliament

had been around Parliament for a long time.

They'd maybe been special advisors or they knew that's a career what they wanted.
