Hello, Joe Devine. Hello. Sebel and I were delighted today to be joined by Andy Townsend, who's here to talk to us about the new feature-length documentary, Finding Jack Chalton, which is

released transactionally, i.e. on the internet, on the 23rd of November, I believe, which

was yesterday when you're listening to this. The first thing to say is that it's amazing,

and I'm not, you know, it's so good.

It's genuinely brilliant.

I watched it this morning and then I wept for about 20 minutes.

And you're not an emotional manner.

You're not really, you're not really enthusiastic about anything.

I mean, you're not Alex, but you're still, you're towards the end. But put it this way, it's not like a dog dies in film, and I still cried. So it's, you know, it's just, it's a wonderful film. It's a, it's a fantastic portrait of Jack or Jackie or Jack Charlton or however you'd like to refer to him when he was a manager of the, of the island team, of the Republic of Ireland. And, you know, it follows the trials and tribulations of the team. It follows his

relationships with the players. Obviously, it followed, you know, in more recent years, his

struggles with dementia as well. And of course, Jack Charlton has passed away before the film's

even been released. So there's that to contend with too. But it's, it's just, um, it's just fucking wonderful, I think. Uh, so this is before we even speak to Andy, but like, just definitely watch it. And it will be, you know, even if you, even if you, even if you don't know anything about the history of football, you don't care about, uh, island you don't know any of the players let's say you're you're a young person you don't care about, if you don't know anything about the history of football, you don't care about Ireland, you don't know any of the players,

let's say you're a young person, you don't know who Andy Townsend is,

watch the film, it's amazing.

Well, yeah, absolutely.

because he talks very vividly about Jack, about his footballing memories under him,

but also about the person.

And I think those are some of my favorite moments during the, both the interview and actually

the film, because I think it's just the most, it's very loving human portrait.
