Well, I hope you're having a nice day. Mine has just been elevated by a conversation I've had with

Andy Hamilton. He's left the room now, so frankly, I could say whatever I want about him,

but that is what I want to say. I've known Andy for quite a while on and off, bumping into each other

here and there. I say to him in the interview, probably the thing he's most associated with

is still Drop the Dead Donkey, the Channel 4 comedy show,

which if you are a fan of that, there's some very encouraging news in this interview.

He also then pops up everywhere on things like, have I got news for you?

I mean, he must have done that many, many times.

He's been on What I Lie to You, the news quiz on the radio, all sorts of things, directs as well.

He's a general good egg.

We talk about all sorts of things, how he got started, and his next thing, which is, it turns out, a very sedate tour of the United Kingdom in an evening with Andy Hamilton.

Hi, everybody. Welcome. I think I've established now, no need to tease the guest. It's a

podcast. You know who it is. Okay. So Andy Hamilton, because it's him,

I've known for longer than I realized when I looked into it and thought about it. And you're,

you're a sort of everything kind of man, aren't you? You sort of do everything, or a lot of things,

certainly. Yeah, I started out started out yeah that sort of just happened

gradually i started out as a writer yeah um and then gradually because i used to get a bit frustrated

when i used to hand the stuff over and writers were not welcome and the the actors would ruin it. No. It was the problem was not the actors. There were these conventions in telly that writers shouldn't hang around in the rehearsal room. And they always tried to put it off on the actors. They say, because the actors don't like it. They really don't like it if they the right. In fact, the exact opposite turns out to be true.

In most instances, the actors actually like to be able to talk to the writer about, you know, how does this?

But, you know.

What the hell does this mean?
