what's the more devastating retirement? Barry Sanders leaving the lions in

the lurch or Andrew Luck retiring during halftime of a preseason game in Indianapolis.

Anytime a franchise quarterback retires that's the devastating retirement, but I will say this. Let's not forget

Barry Sanders sent his retirement to a Wichita newspaper via facts, okay? Then got on a plane and went to Europe and there were no answers to be had.

Andrew Luck, this news breaks inexplicably amazingly in the middle of a preseason game and

rather than doing his retirement press conference the next day is scheduled

He just does it after the game. He just is alright screw it. I'm gonna do it was done he was finished. Yeah, it was it. I'm done

Devastating for the Colts franchise because this was a guy who had 10 years left in front of him. Barry Sanders had a few years left was probably going to, you know, get the rushing crown before he retired the all-time rushing yardage crown but this was a guy that I think you and I we've had so many conversations not only on the podcast but also privately about Andrew Luck and you and I were looking forward to watching this guy play another decade and now it's just over. Especially when being coached by Frank Reich.

Well I think we agree as one of the seven best offensive head coaches in football, you know, and that's probably being a little, that's being really careful.

Frank Wright's really good at what he does, and I really felt like watching Andrew Luck would be a lot of fun over the next decade but

we're not gonna get that I think I'm gonna answer my own question I think I think both of those

retirements were devastating to the franchises.

However, I think the whole aspect of Barry, Barry's on, like the impact on the fans was worse.

Like there was just nothing from Barry. Like one thing we forget like I know this happened 20 years ago

but we forget there were a lot of people thinking Barry might come back. Come back just because

just because just because he he told a Wichita newspaper, he's retiring, nobody heard from him.

Like the lines didn't even know, like they didn't know like for sure that this was it for him, you know?

So I think a lot of people just held, I hope that if the lions got good,

that he might come back.
