each week on earth ancients we try to find a little bit of history from known

and unknown civilizations unknown because there are evidence of buildings,

pyramids and other structures that do not have identification or we do not know

who built them. But this week we are going to Turkey and the site of

Gobekli Teppi now recognized as the oldest freestanding temple in the world.

At over 12,000 years old we don't know who built it, we don't know who the

people were, we can only guess at who was sophisticated enough to create

structures that emulated the sky that were used for observation, used for

teaching and used for educating the people who were left following the

younger, driest ice age. This week we welcome the return of Andrew Collins who

has a new book to talk about as well as controversies in Turkey and his

research on Gobekli Teppi. All this in the news with Bruce Fenton on earth ancients.

I'm your host Cliff Dunning. Hey how you doing? You know there are so many

discoveries, archaeological discoveries that are not really well documented,

that actually change our history and it's really quite incredible when you

consider some of these ancient sites that have been discovered over the last

decade. They're a place in our history and how it actually changes history but we

don't have those changes in our literature. This is a great example of this is

Gobekli Teppi in Turkey. It's been dated by Klaus Schmidt and his German archaeological

institute to be dated at 9,000 BC. That's over 12,000 years ago and this is not

hunters and gathers. These are very sophisticated people that built these educational centers.
