Hello and welcome to the Sunday with New Paterson podcast. With key speeches on Brexit from

Theresa May and Jeremy Corbyn coming up this week, I was joined by the leader of the Commons,

Andrea Ledsome, and the Shadow Attorney General, Bagnas Chakrabati.

This week, the government's Brexit war cabinet gathered at Chequers, the Prime Minister's

country retreat, to hammer out their negotiating stance for the upcoming trade talks with the

EU. Before she could even begin thinking about negotiating with Brussels, Theresa May had to unite

the warring factions in her cabinet around a position they could all support.

In the end, she seemed to succeed, well, at least for now, but there's no let-up for the PM.

Attention now turns to Europe and whether the EU 27 can be persuaded to accept our plan,

which one senior European figure has already described as pure illusion.

And at home, things are no simpler,

with reports that Conservative rebels could work with the Labour Party
