Unfictional is KCRW's program of peculiar and memorable stories and documentaries.

It's part of the Independent Producer Project,

which is our effort to support and champion the work of independent radio producers.

And today on the program, two stories from a pair of

veteran radio producers were calling this episode and then what happened

because in each of these stories there is an event quick and violent

followed by the rippling aftermath. I wonder about a stain on the ceiling directly above me and splatter of something.

Only patients see these things. I try not to think about it.

Who's come in before me? Who was not left before me? A man takes us back to the

moment he was mugged in the street and what happened after that.

Los Angeles-based producer Nate De Mayo has been featured on this program in the past.

He creates weirdly hypnotic historical stories

about people you may have never heard of and others you have. This story has one of each,
