Summary

Get ready for some drama! Both from this theater-saturated novel and from your intrepid co-hosts, as one of us quite liked this one, the other, less so. But it's not all tragedy, because stage plays aren't the only things to come in three parts. So too do... love triangles! And we know how Papa Poirot enjoys a romance. So join us as we debate the merits of this rare Hercule Poirot novel to feature another detective, one Mr. Satterthwaite of "The Mysterious Mr Quin" fame. He too enjoys a side-dish of romance amidst a generous helping of murder. Let's dig in.

And this week we are covering a novel, hooray.

0:22.0

We did it. So we are reading three-act

0:26.4

tragedy or as it is known in the US, Murder in Three Acts, and we will be talking a lot about UK versus US when it comes to this book.

0:36.3

And it was published in the UK in 1935. We'll talk about it later

0:56.0

but there are actually some concrete changes between the two editions which is

1:01.8

more unusual than not I think at least from what I could see there is only one other novel which we have not gotten to yet in which that also happens which is the moving finger and I don't know what the substantive differences are the moving finger either. I was never aware that this was even a

1:15.9

thing that could happen in Christie until we covered this book so I think it's

1:21.2

pretty interesting. It's also the title difference is so pointless to me.

1:25.0

It's another one of those like why?

1:27.0

Did Dodd me just say if it doesn't have murder and it no one's gonna buy it,

1:30.0

you know, like tragedy's not strong enough.

1:32.0

Maybe, I don't know. what I do know is I have a

1:34.3

really great fontana edition paper back from the 1970s yeah I know so I was incredibly

1:42.0

excited I was incredibly excited.

1:42.7

I was like, super great painting artwork on the front.

1:46.7
