Before we start, I wanted to mention that last week, I offhandedly threw out a challenge to our listeners to employ a rhetorical device of some sort in their iTunes review.

This was inspired by another listener's use of Lytotis, which is a form of understatement in their review.

And I did manage to catch at least one from a listener

whose iTunes handle is Crone Crone and who used a device called polyptoton or polyptaton,

depending on how that word is correctly pronounced. And I think we've already established

that I'm no expert in pronunciation.

Now, I'm going to give you a couple of examples and see if you can kind of figure out what this device is.

So my first example is from the movie Fight Club, which I really love.
