When you guys were kids, just because like you are in your childhood bedroom, were you super

into boy band, in sync, backstreet boys? Like, what were you Uber into pop culture wise when you were

like teens or younger? For me, it was Madonna, for sure. Never gave a shit about boy bands.

Don't care. Also, I feel like I was maybe a little old for it. I mean, maybe not. I think I was probably like 13 at the peak of the backstreet boys and in sync. But I never really gave a shit. And also, weirdly, I was like, as a child, I was like a huge Bet Midler fan. I was obsessed with Bet Midler.

I would listen to all of her old records and watch her movies and stuff.

So that was my pop culture gateway drug.

Madonna is often associated with gay men, but I think there is a small but mighty community

of us gay women for whom Madonna did the very same thing that she was

doing for gay dudes. Do you think it was her with Rosie O'Donnell from the early 90s on? Like that

my memory is like their friendship and then Rosie O'Donnell having like the biggest talk show at the

same time that Ray of Light comes out is like that to me is a huge

cultural moment. Yeah, that was iconic. But also just Madonna having, you know,
