Summary

And Just Like That, the sequel to the beloved series Sex and the City on MAX (formerly HBO) is returning for its 2nd season on June 22, 2023. Before it starts we thought we would review the highlights of season 1 and discuss our feelings about that season and about what's to come in season 2. We are joined by Brooke's 20 year old daughter Layla to get some perspective from a younger generation, particularly about how the sequel treats issues realted to race and the LGBTQIA+ community. When Sex and the City premiered in 1998 it was a very different time. Even when it ended in 2004 it was still a very different time, almost 20 years ago. And Just Like That is trying to catch it up to present day, but how well are they doing? It's a lively discussion, join us!

Did you watch The Sex and the City show, the full show?

0:59.2

Yeah, my mom and I binged it once on vacation in Disneyland.

It came on, like, on, you know, you're just switching through the channels on the hotel TV. Oh, so didn't have all the marathon? Yes. Okay. But then after that, I went and like, we came home and I just, I think it was on Netflix at the time and I just watched everything. Okay. And all the movies. With all the sex. Yes. Yep. Yep.

1:38.9

watched the original Sex and City while it was on the air in real time because we're old.

1:45.5

And, you know,

1:50.7

that was one of the pieces. What was so interesting about it was, you know, hearing from another generation after ours about how they took in sex in the city and how they found it so

1:57.3

problematic and how times changed. And then just wanting to hear from you and so when
