Hi and welcome to the Elizabeth Alliet Gateway to Joy podcast, the debut episode of this

0:11.0

podcast. Good to have you along. Hey, maybe before we begin, it would be good for a quick

0:17.6

review of the Gateway to Joy radio program. Maybe you listen for years when it originally

0:23.7

aired, or maybe you've heard the slightly newer version of Gateway to Joy. A little

0:29.0

history now from Jan Anderson-Wismer. She tells us about how the Gateway to Joy radio program

0:35.7

got its start. Come with me back to 1979. The setting is a radio studio on the campus of Grace

0:43.0

College of the Bible in Omaha, Nebraska. There's a young woman there who's working the graveyard shift,

0:48.5

so she decides to write a letter to Elizabeth Alliet. So she sits down at the selectric typewriter

0:54.6

and the home of the typewriter is in the background. She writes Elizabeth to tell her just how much

1:00.3

she has appreciated the book, let me be a woman. And while this girl, this young college girl is

1:07.0

writing this, God plants a seed in her heart that says, one day Elizabeth Alliet is going to be

1:14.0

on the radio. In April of 1988, back to the Bible, invited Elizabeth Alliet to come and be the

1:20.6

speaker for a 15 minute radio program. At that time, the Lord gave me these verses. I had in

1:29.3

mind to build a house as a resting place. I had in mind to build a radio program with Elizabeth Alliet,

1:37.9

and David says, and I made preparations, and God said to me, all of this was drafted by the

1:45.8

Lord's own hands. Now who is willing to give today with an open hand? It was God's work. He

1:58.5

allowed me to have something to do with the beginning of it, and it was such a privilege to get

2:04.0

to work with Elizabeth. Thanks, Jan. On October 1, 1988, the Gateway to Joy Radio program went on

2:12.0

the air and continued for over a decade. Then the program was off the air for several years,

2:18.2

but by July 2013, Lars Grin, husband of Elizabeth Alliet, was working on getting Gateway to Joy

2:25.6

back on the air. Before long, the programs were mailed to the Bible Broadcasting Network in Charlotte,

2:32.0

North Carolina. Some were on CD, many on real-to-real tapes packed in multiple large boxes,
