| 0:00.0 | Hey everybody, it's Bo. Wanted to jump in before things get started to kind of let you know what you're about to listen to. This episode, we did something kind of unique. I took a recording device to our local pipe shop Christmas party and I really wanted to shine the spotlight on some of the local community here and get a couple of discussions from what was going on at the Christmas party, talking about the local pipe community, talking about the pipe community as a whole. It was really, really good stuff. But given that it was a party, and I didn't have my full recording setup, the recording device didn't quite capture the unique let's say quality that you guys have grown accustomed to with this show. I debated back and forth even as to whether or not to air this episode, just because I wasn't sure how I felt about it. But ultimately, it's a good highlight of some various folks that are members of our local pipe community. Once you get to that segment, it's not the full episode, but you'll notice, say, dive in quality. That is why. So I hope you'll grant a little bit of grace for this particular episode. If we ever do something like this in the future, I've got a better method that I know will work. That being said, let me get out of the way so we can jump into this episode and a very happy new year to all of you, and I'll see you next week. This episode of Country Squire Radio is brought to you by Eric Stokeby Fourth Generation, Missouri Mirsham, and thispiplife.com. We thank them for their support of this show, and we thank you for supporting them. |

| 1:26.8 | Merry Christmas. |
| 1:27.7 | And Happy New Year. Yeah, that's right. We're right here, man, right between the two holidays. It's the Monday after Christmas. It is the Monday after Christmas. A week before New Year's. It's crazy. You know, we mentioned last week we've got kind of a special episode this, this, I was but I might say this year, but this week. That As we, as we are right in between, sandwiched right here between these wonderful holidays. The last one of 2016. Yeah. How was your Christmas? Was it really good? It was great, man. It was really good. My parents came in town and just, you know, of course, ate way too much food. And parents got to meet the girlfriend, which was, which was nice. Dude, they hadn't they nice? Had they met her yet? Dude, dude. Check that list, that box off the list. And yeah, man, just a lot of fun stuff going on. So, you know, back right in gear at the country squire the day after here. And we're wearing to go. Man, it's been nonstop for me. My in-laws came into |
| 2:18.3 | town. Uh, we've been doing some fun stuff. I actually made a traditional Sunday roast. Really? For the first time. Yeah, I wanted to. Now, what makes a roast traditional? Well, it's the way the British people do it. I think it's part of the way. Oh, you make it taste bad. No, no, no, no, no, no, sir. |
| 2:32.6 | This was actually really, really good. |
| 2:35.2 | You don't overspice it. |
| 2:36.4 | You're right. |
| 2:36.8 | I mean, the British, they, no, no, no, sir. This was actually really, really good. You don't |
| 2:35.7 | overspice it. You're right. I mean, the British, they don't do heavy seasoning. They focus on the |
| 2:40.5 | flavor of whatever's at, you know, we got, we splurged, man. We got a really nice cut of |
| 2:47.0 | beef. Okay. And like, so like the flavor of the beef was really like so good. Yeah. Rub that thing down with olive oil and rosemary. It was absolutely gorgeous. And on top of that, I also, for the first time ever made Yorkshire puddings. Wow. Now, when we say puddings, you know, the British people, like Americans think like sweet dessert type deal. Oh, that's right. Yeah. But the British puddings are essentially like this kind of unique roll where it kind of folds in on itself. Something more savory, right? It's kind of made, I would almost describe it as like a bignet, but with no sweetness. Okay. So it's kind of like a dinner roll, but like bignet style where it's kind of a hard on the outside, chewy on the inside. But we call the pudding. Yeah. Do you have pictures of these? |
| 3:27.9 | I do. I do. And the thing is, is that I actually, the, the oil that we used to cook the puddings |
| 3:35.3 | actually spilled out onto the oven floor. Okay. Okay. And then started spilling out onto the |
| 3:39.7 | floor of the house and then started smoking |
| 3:41.9 | so that the smoke detectors went on. You may recall, I texted you and asked you if I could borrow |
| 3:48.5 | your oven for an hour. That's why. And that's it. And that's it. But we got everything worked out. |
| 3:54.5 | We had to cool everything down. Fantastic. My wife had to get in there and scrub in the inside of the oven. And ultimately, we were thinking about it. This is the kind of like Christmas vacation style, in-laws in town. Everything goes wrong. They made a movie of this. Exactly. Right. But ultimately the dinner was phenomenal. I got to tell you, after I was done, I was like, I got to smoke a pipe. You know, you know, after you've had like the most amazing meal in your life where it's just like, you know it was amazing when your first thought is, where's my pipe? That was that meal for me. Had to wind up with that. Yeah, man. Well, we know a little something about enjoying good food and enjoying good beverages with it as well. That's right. The beverages that you can get when you brew up a cup of beanfruit coffee. That's right. Beanfruit.com, of course, the home of beanfruit coffee and our good friend Paul that is the master roaster there. That's right. Lots of innovative blends that they've got. And of course, we drink them regularly. They're featured all over town here in Jackson, but it's available all over the world, and we encourage you to try it as well. Yeah, beamfruit.com, use the code CSR to get yourself 5% off. They've got some great, great blends. You've heard about us talk about Beanfruit for the last several episodes. If you've not picked up some coffee, this is a great time to do it. You've got all that Christmas money, or maybe, maybe if you haven't spent it yet. So be sure to go and load up on some beanfruit coffee. Save yourself some money, too, when you use the code, CSR at checkout at beanfruit.com. Now, man, this is a special one. We're through the magic of time travel. We're about to step back. Thank you, Einstein. Right, right. We're about to step back into our local pipe Christmas party. That's right. I mean, it's the country squire Christmas party. It has become a tradition. You have done this for... The last few years. Yeah. How many years has been? Three years now. This is our third year. Man, I gotta tell you, every single year I look forward to it more and more. And it just seems to get like bigger and bigger and more special and more special. People bring food. People bring beverages. People are sharing tobacco. A lot of cigars this year. That's kind of almost been the theme of this year. Yeah, it's fascinating. A lot of new stuff like that. But I tell you, I've never seen so much food at the country's choir. Oh, it was excellent. Who made, there was like a, was it shepherd's pie where it's like the beef underneath and the potatoes at home? That was our buddy Hinchos. Hinchos made that? |
| 6:11.1 | Dude, that was so good. |
