Summary

We will be discussing Fr. Ananias' approach to Orthodox epistemology based on his published papers.

Fr. Ananias completed his PhD at University College Dublin and was awarded his doctorate in philosophy on December 18, 2011. Upon receiving his doctorate, he moved back to the U.S. He taught philosophy at Cal State University Fullerton (CSUF), Fullerton College, and Azusa Pacific University. He currently teaches at Carroll College in Helena, Montana.

He is also a member of the clergy in the Eastern Orthodox Church, where he serves as a Deacon at St. Moses the Strong Orthodox Christian Mission Parish and Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church.

Yeah, just a little bit about my academic background.

I went to, prior to going to a four-year college,

I was studying physics and mathematics because I wanted to

actually go into physics. And then instead of transferring by God's Providence, I actually found

a classical liberal arts college, which was really nice because at the same time, I was taking classes at community college, a junior college, and philosophy. So I kind of wanted to do all of that stuff. But Lewis, as you know, schools are very specialized. It's like you can only pick one.

So the fact that I found classical order liberal arts,

Quadrivium, Tribium, based on the great books program,

was amazing that I was able to do all of that.

And so my background of studying mathematics and science played in very well.

And I got a bachelor's in liberal arts, classical liberal arts from Thomas Aquinas College,

the great book school that was equivalent to a double major in philosophy theology,

double minor in mathematics and physics, science.
