Nominion voting systems against Fox News may very well turn out to be a landmark legal

moment in America. It may also be the emergency break on willful dishonesty in right-wing

cable news. But even if it turns out to be neither of those things, it has already changed

our understanding of what really lies under the rocks over at Fox News. By turning them

over in the request for summary judgment, Nominion has already assembled an open-and-shut

case, a willful deceit of a massive audience of viewers, a pathological fear of a ratings

defeat against far-right competitors, and a witch's brew of backbiting and retribution

against that network's own working journalists and fact-checkers. Before we go any further,

we should tell you that at any moment we're expecting breaking news in the form of fresh

filings from Nominion and Fox. These new filings are expected to lay out new evidence and

new arguments in the case. While we wait for that, though, for years we have turned to

phrases like inside the bubble and the echo chamber to describe that relationship between

Fox News and its viewers. But never before has it been so plain to see from the outside.

These discovery filing show right there, Clearys Day, that Fox hosts were telling their

viewers what they knew they wanted to hear about the results of the 2020 election, even

in the very same Fox News host communicated the truth to one another in private, which

was different from what they were broadcasting. Nominion's case made very well-wrested on

their ability to get a juries to understand that distinction. Today, though, the story

goes even further. In the form of something really rare, a highly visible internal dissent.
