so when COVID-19 hit the United States in 2020, it affected almost every aspect of our daily lives, including the meat industry, which was no exception.

We saw the supply shortages and we finally saw something

that drew some attention to the despicable conditions in slaughterhouses and in

meat packing factories. We saw factory workers who were forced to stay on the line

because meat companies were in poor exporting more than ever and of course because profits were high.

In spite of a global pandemic, in spite of the risk to the workers and their

coworkers and the people consuming the meat. This comes amidst decades of

allegations of manipulation, price fixing, wage fixing at nearly every level of the meat industry.

And let's factor climate change into this crisis and we can see the threats to food production

as we know it.

So how bad was it? How unsustainable is it? How

should this industry operate moving forward and at this point is there even such a
