Recently had a chance to sit down with the great Senator Bernie Sanders.

Talked about a lot of issues.

I started out by asking him, okay, Donald Trump's going to be sworn in as the 45th president

of the United States.

What does that mean for Americans?

I think it's a frightening and challenging moment.

I think we have never had a candidate run for president

who in many ways ran his campaign based on bigotry,

based on xenophobia, based on sexism, based on racism.

And it is absolutely imperative that the American people respond to the united way to tell

Mr. Trump that he is not going to push those type of ideas on us.

We're not going backwards.

We have struggled too long against racism and sexism and homophobia and xenophobia.

We're going to unite.

And we're not going to let him do some of the terrible things that he talked about doing.

Some of the terrible things, specifically, what policy do you think of the biggest dangers?

Immigration. I mean, that's right up there.

Look, at the end of the day, what Republicans want to do, what's in their DNA, is to give

huge tax breaks to billionaires to exacerbate the unbelievable level of income and wealth inequality we have. And then they want to cut Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and federal aid to education, environmental protection. That's basically what they want to do. But you know what? 90% of the American people don't agree with them. So they got a problem. They're not going to run 30-second ad and say, hey, vote for me. I'm going to cut Social Security and give tax breaks to billionaires. So what do they have to do? It's the old story. It's what

demagoguery is always about, is you deflect the tension away from those issues, and you've got one

group of people fighting another group of people. And I think the scapegoat right now is the immigrant
