1.1, verses 10 through 12, concerning this salvation, the prophets who prophesied about the grace

that was to be yours, searched and inquired carefully, inquiring what person or time the Spirit of Christ in them was

indicating when he predicted the sufferings of Christ and the subsequent glories. It was revealed to

them that they were serving not themselves but you, and the things that have now been announced to you through those who

preach the good news to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, things into which angels

long to look. That's amazing. Just think about what First Peter is saying right here, that the

prophets. So let's just take Isaiah, who prophesied

700 years before Jesus even came, which is 2,700 years ago from where we are now. He was

serving you. That's what First Peter one is saying. He was serving, not himself.

I mean, Isaiah and all these prophets went through so much trial, which is part of what

1 Peter 1 is about.

Earlier in this chapter, we read about being grieved by various trials.

Like, this is a hard world with trials that grieve us.

And the Bible is saying God is telling us here that Isaiah and Jeremiah and Daniel and Josea,

all these prophets wrote down God's revelation to serve you today. Ultimately, by pointing us to Jesus,

this is the line here is so amazing that they wrote down all these truths about Jesus,

about his sufferings and his glory, and then those things were passed on from one person to the next,

and now they've been announced to you through those who preach the good news to you by the Holy Spirit.

Just think about the people in your life who shared the gospel with you

and the people in their lives who shared the gospel with them,

and the people in their lives who shared the gospel with them.
