Summary

820: This week our guest is Paul Cunningham from Hartford Golf Club in Cheshire, near the Liverpool-Manchester metropolitan area of England. This semi-private 9 hole course has a lot of competition in the area, but they’re pushing the boundaries of many golf traditions to help introduce new players to the game. Say I played with my girlfriend who's never played golf before. We got on the golf course. I play all the shots till we got on the green and then she takes the putter and she puts the ball into the hole. The nun golfers have absolutely loved it. We actually had one of the members who was quite a good player, hit the green on the second hole with the T-shot, it was a par three, and he was only about six foot away for the pin. He gave the putter to his wife, and she had six puts, and they walked off with a seven. He was going mad. He was calling her names. He was like all sorts. He was swearing. He won nearest the pin, but they walked off with a seven.

She'd not put it on a degree before. She couldn't believe how quick it was. She put the ball for a six foot, and it went 20 foot past the hole. But she soon got it. A couple of holes later, she did like a two-put, and then they were high-fiving, and they were loving it. So that's just the highs of loads of golf, isn't it? today, but where specifically are you for somebody who? Northwest, well, northwest England,

so we're not a million miles away from Manchester and Liverpool, and then we're not far from

the coast where you've got famous courses like Bkdale and Hury Lake, Royal Liverpool. They're probably about an hour away from us. So the northwest is a bit of a hot bed of golf courses. So you have a tremendous amount of competition that you're fighting for? Yeah, yeah. I mean, in Cheshire. I mean, Cheshire's not a huge county.
