What does it mean to be meek? Well, to be meek means to become a doormat.

So now I gotta let everybody walk all over me and now I just kind of have to be

unimportant and hide and all this kind of stuff.

And some people will go step further and say,

this is sort of why Christianity is ridiculous

because it turns you into a punching bag for other people.

But if we understand that Jesus is speaking here words of gospel to people who are in the eyes of the world already

Mistreated unimportant cast away

Jesus is saying I have not looking away from you.

I see you.

I'm here for you.

I'm going to give you the earth.

He's not pivoting.

This is still on the same vine thing.

We're still getting promised.

We're still getting gift.

And what you hear in this particular verse

is that if you are someone who is mistreated or feel unimportant

or you are meek, the Lord Jesus is for you. Applying the riches of the Reformation to the modern church, this is Whitehorse Sin,

But who will nonetheless inherit the earth because they trust in God to direct the outcome of events They understand their true position of weakness before God.
