I'm very excited to be chatting with Evan McMullen today. I know you are so busy in the midst

of a campaign for Senate. So thank you so much for joining me. Well it's great to be with you.

I really appreciate your making time for me to join the podcast. So much to talk about. So much

is happening in America, Evan. Indeed. Indeed it is. There's so many things. Lots of material to discuss.

That's right. It's never ending for a government teacher. Well that is a great lesson about this

and the other thing. Here's one of the main things I wanted to talk to you about though. Because

this is such a unique thing that has happened with your candidacy in the United States, which is

that one of the two major parties, in this case the Democrats, declined to nominate a candidate

of their own and instead decided to just throw their weight behind you. And they were like, you know

what? Let's go with McMullen. You are an independent. You're not a Democrat. You used to be a

Republican and now you identify more as an independent. But that's such a unique thing to have

happen. Why? Why did they do it? Well I think they did it because they knew that bigger things

weren't staked and just party interest. And that's part of my message is that look we have to set
