0:31.2	Senate currently in the state of Utah and he is running as an independent. And if you've
0:37.0	been listening to me for a while, you know that I am not a fan of the two-party binary system.
0:42.9	And so I'm always interested to chat with people with a different take, a fresh perspective.

1:02.0	I'm very excited to be chatting with Evan McMullen today. I know you are so busy in the midst
1:06.6	of a campaign for Senate. So thank you so much for joining me. Well it's great to be with you.
1:11.6	I really appreciate your making time for me to join the podcast. So much to talk about. So much
1:17.7	is happening in America, Evan. Indeed. Indeed it is. There's so many things. Lots of material to discuss.
1:26.4	That's right. It's never ending for a government teacher. Well that is a great lesson about this
1:31.2	and the other thing. Here's one of the main things I wanted to talk to you about though. Because
1:34.4	this is such a unique thing that has happened with your candidacy in the United States, which is
1:40.8	that one of the two major parties, in this case the Democrats, declined to nominate a candidate
1:49.6	of their own and instead decided to just throw their weight behind you. And they were like, you know
1:55.8	what? Let's go with McMullen. You are an independent. You're not a Democrat. You used to be a
2:02.2	Republican and now you identify more as an independent. But that's such a unique thing to have
2:08.0	happen. Why? Why did they do it? Well I think they did it because they knew that bigger things
2:15.3	weren't staked and just party interest. And that's part of my message is that look we have to set
