Hello, I'm Dr. Stephen Hassan, and I'm honored to have with me a psychiatrist Lance Dodus.

I'd like to just start Lance, if you don't mind, to read your bio, very esteemed accomplishments.

You are a medical doctor and you are a training and supervising

analyst emeritus at the Boston Psychoanalytic Society and Institute, and a current member of the

new Center of Psychoanalysis in Los Angeles, which I believe is where you're now residing,

and retired assistant clinical professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. Lance has been the director of the

substance abuse treatment unit of Harvard's McLean Hospital, director of the Alcoholism

Treatment Unit at Spalding Rehabilitation Hospital,

which is now part of Massachusetts General Hospital, and director of the Boston Center for

Problem Gambling.

Lance Dottis is the author and or co-author of many journal articles and book chapters

about the psychology of addiction

and the author of three books, The Heart of Addiction, Breaking Addiction, a seven-step

handbook for ending any addiction, and The Sober Truth, debunking the bad science behind

12-step programs and the rehab industry.

Dr. Dodus has been honored by the Division on Addictions at Harvard Medical School for

distinguished contribution to the study and treatment of addictive behavior.

You've been elected a distinguished fellow of the American Academy of Addiction

Psychiatry. You've been asked to lecture across the United States, Canada, and Europe about the

understanding of addiction that you've developed. And I've been after you for months, Dr. Dodus.
