But we're delighted to have join us, General Stan McChrystal.

General McChrystal, thanks so much for taking the time.

Well, please call me Stan, and thanks for having me.

Okay, my joy.

So some of our listeners might know you, but many of our listeners will not.

Could you say a little bit of a word about who you are, where you're from, your present work?

Absolutely.

I'm Stan McChrystal. I'm a 71-year-old guy who lives in Alexandria, Virginia.

I spent from age 17 to age 55 in the U.S. military, and I went through the evolution of someone,

you know, how it affects you through a career, first at West Point,

then as an Army officer, through a number of assignments. My final assignment, I was commanding all U.S. and Allied forces in Afghanistan. I left the service in June of 2010 after a magazine article came out that created quite a

firestorm in the press and caused me to offer my resignation to then President Obama.

And so I began my last chapter of life. Since the summer of 2010, I started a business, my crystal group,

it's a consulting company.

But I've also used the time to write five books, starting with my memoirs,

but most recently a book on character.

And it's a book on my thoughts on character as they have formed themselves over a lifetime.
