Now, Ian McDonald's first story was published in 1982.

In 1989, he won the Locust First Novel Award for his novel,

Desolation Road. He won the Philip K Dick Award in

1992 for his novel King of Morning, Queen of Day. His other books include the novels Out

on Blue Six, Hearts, Hands and Voices, Terminal Cafe,

Sacrifice of Fool's Evolution's Shore, Kirignia, Eres Express, Brazil, the Dervish House, River of Gods, Plains Runner, Be My Enemy,

and the Empress of the Sun.

He won a Hugo Award in 2007 for his novel at The Gin's Wife.
