In the meantime, one of the burning stories around Capital H hockey, not just the NHL, involves two teams in the ECHL, the Newfoundland Growlers and the Troix Rivier Lions. now they are both owned by the same group that is Deacon Sports, that is Dean McDonald,

and they're close to being shuttered.

Shut down.

There is a meeting today, and then if that produces no solid results,

then there will be a board meeting, at which point we imagine both teams would have to suspend operations.

And then the dominoes falling from there would be swift and severe.

Here to fill us in on all the blanks on this and what we can expect, and maybe how we got here as well is Seth Cooper. He's the host of

on Center Ice, also afternoon drive host on Hits 95.9 WCQL in Glen Falls, New York. He's been covering

the ECHL for a number of years. I'm glad to welcome him here to the program. Seth, how are you today?

I am doing well. So first of all, before we get to what's next, let's start with how did we get here?

Now, this ownership group is no stranger to the ECHL. They've owned Iowa in the past, and now they own two teams, Newfoundland and also Tuar-Rivier.

How did we get to this point where all of a sudden we're talking about these two teams

suspending operations while the season is still going on?

Well, I think there'll be no pecan salad or ribs for either of these teams.

I mean, you take a look. Thank you. Thank you. You know,

you take a look at how we got here. And realistically, you kind of have to go back to 2021, right?
