French military militias, armed, all sorts of stuff going on in the last week or so.

But let's get back to it.

What is this place?

So New Caledonia is an island in Oceania is the Pacific. Yeah in that region. It's north of New Zealand and northeast of Australia.

So, yeah, quite far away from France.

It's 17,000 kilometers away from Paris which is slightly absurd to call it

France really and it was colonized by Napoleon the third in 1853 and it was established as a prison colony for the different regimes until

1924 when officially it wasn't used as a place where they would exile political prisoners to work.

Yeah, it's a, it's a, it's a's it's a it's a it's a it's an island. It's a group of islands. There's one main island and a few small islands off the coast.

And it's fitted by... small islands off the coast.

And it's fitted by the UN as a non-autonomous territory and is, and as in a to be decolonized territory and what's lit up the civil unrest recently is part of this

de-izing process.
