James, the first chapter.

If you've noticed, the Lord has had us for the past few weeks on the subject of fear and not being afraid.

He said in John 14, in fact, put it up on the screen for us, if you would please, John 14 and 27, he said, peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. Then he must not have wanted us afraid and troubled.

Not as the world giveth give I to you.

Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Who's the understood subject?

You are not to let your heart be troubled.

You are not to let your heart be troubled. You are not to let your heart be afraid.

These are the words of the head of the church, the master. Should we take them seriously?

Should we believe them that if he said don't let your heart be afraid or troubled, then we have the ability by his grace,

by this peace he's given us,

we have the ability not to allow ourselves to be afraid or troubled.

Now, you know, most church-going people don't even believe this.

They believe everybody's going to have their days,

where everybody gets scared sometimes, everybody's going to be troubled sometimes.

But that's religious tradition.

Jesus said, don't do it.

Jesus said, don't do it.

Don't let your heart be troubled.

Didn't you say try not to.
