Summary

Amy Sherald painted the official portrait of Michelle Obama that’s hanging in the National Portrait Gallery but there’s an awesome story around how she got that commission and the artistic decisions she made in making that painting. Amy had already become a major portraitist before that commission, even though, just a few years before she met the Obamas, Amy was broke and wondering where her artistic career was going.
