Some of us live

with varying degrees of physical pain, and others of us harbor the emotional pain of loneliness,

shame, guilt. Looking at our culture more broadly, we see the harm of our social divisions and

the unyielding reality and impact of injustice and inequity. The gospel's brim with stories of

Jesus healing people, but what does that mean for us today?

What does it mean to be made well? Is this something that is possible in the land of the living?

Or is it something we have to wait for until Jesus returns? Personally, I believe we can see the

goodness of the Lord in the land of the living, but I also believe what Scripture says that there's

a part of our inheritance. We're not going to fully possess until Jesus returns. But that said,

even though there are no easy answers, is it possible that maybe we've settled for far less
