I should have looked ahead

last week. Let's face it, I get caught sometimes. When I was going through the list of the

neighbors of Israel and Judah, you may recall I said, oh, it's kind of curious that Moab, who is one of the

neighbors, is not mentioned here. I did not think to turn the page. For indeed,

Moab is one of the nations that God has some problems with. And so we're going to continue on

from chapter one where God went through the various nations around Israel and Judah and talked

about judgment that was coming to them because of what they had done to the people of God.

Chapter 2 starts like this.

This is what the Lord says.

For three sins of Moab, even for four, I will not relent, because he burned to ashes the bones of Edom's king.

I will send fire on Moab that will consume the fortress of Kiryoth. Moab will go down in

great tumult amid war cries and the blast of the trumpet. I will destroy her ruler and kill all her

officials with him, says the Lord. This is what the Lord says. For three sins of Judah, even for four, I will not relent.

Because they have rejected the law of the Lord and have not kept his decrees,

because they have been led astray by false gods, the gods their ancestors followed.

I will send fire on Judah and will consume the fortresses of Jerusalem.

of Israel and saying how this one was related to, you know, Edom was related to Issa,
