Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gerschovich and former US Marine Paul Wielen

have been released by Russia in a prisoner swap with the US. Daily Wire senior

editor Cabot Phillips has more. Three Americans detained in Russia have been released following the largest east-west prisoner

swap of the post-Soviet era.

The agreement reached Thursday morning, included 24 total prisoners and seven countries including the US, Poland, Germany, Slovenia and Norway

included among the 16 set free from Russia are dissidents, journalists, human rights advocates

and other political prisoners.

The three Americans released were Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gerskovich,

journalist and radio broadcaster Alsu, Kermashiva, and retired Marine Paul Whelan. For their part, the Russians received eight men,

including a number of suspected spies,

and one convicted murderer.

Russian authorities arrested them, convicted them in show trials,

and sends them the long prison terms,

with absolutely no legitimate reason whatsoever, none. And now their brutal ordeal is over and they're free.
