were killed after trying to help a fellow soldier deal with his PTSD,

a man who was dealing with the mental repercussions of serving his country.

Christopher Kyle is a man that many know.

He is a former Navy SEAL sniper who, after serving four tours in the Iraq War, came home as a decorated soldier.

He then went on to publish his best-selling autobiography,

American Sniper, in 2012, and, as we know, it became a Clint Eastwood directed award-winning movie

by the same name. He was approached in 2013 by a woman at the school his children attended.

She told him about her son, who she believed was suffering from PTSD after serving with the Marines.

Knowing Chris had begun working with veterans, she asked if he could reach out to her son.

He agreed and made plans to take Eddie Ray Roth to a shooting range.

He believed the activity would bring therapeutic value to his fellow veteran

and even asked veteran and neighbor Chad Littlefield to join them.
