on the core issues of the book. And I think no one can represent all of these different

kinds of roles quite as well as Ambassador William B. Taylor. Bill Taylor is known to many of

you because in 2019 he served as the charge to fair at the SMBC in Kiev. I had a distinguished

diplomatic career before that, including having served as ambassador Ukraine from 2006 to 2009 to

held a number of very sensitive roles throughout the greater Middle East. A lot of experience

dealing with issues of Soviet Union and Eastern Europe served under Bradley staff was a distinguished

military officer and we were glad to have you joining us. Hi, Bill. Hello, David. Thank you. Very

kind. Very kind. The role you play in this story has to do with Ukraine and replacing Ambassador

Masha Ivanovich after she was unceremoniously and I think it's fair to say unfairly pushed out

of her office and you were persuaded to come back in on certain kinds of terms which you can

explore. And and fairly early on you discovered that this was not the US government operating as you

had known it to operate throughout your career. Yeah, so even even before I was approached to go

back out and as you say replace Masha Ivanovich who had been a great ambassador was doing a great

job in Kiev representing the United States. Following US policy very clearly and even before there

was any indication that she'd been coming back there was some sense that all was not right,

that all that there was something else going on there. I'd had a couple of conversations with her
