Cannon, Director of Health Policy Studies at Cato, and the author of Recovery, A Guide to Reforming

the U.S. health sector.

Michael, thanks for joining Americano.

Thank you so much for having me.

This is my favorite kind of segment because we got to do some myth-busting,

not just around some numbers when it comes to health care systems,

one of my favorite topics, but around some preconceived notions, shall we say,

about what a free market, classically liberal person,

especially an American, might think about health care. So the accusation, often in the UK,

accusation might be too civil of a word, actually, is that if you are a free market American,

you must love your health care system. And on top of

that, you must be desperate to import it to Europe, to sell European health care systems to the

highest bidder in the U.S. My first question to you, Michael, is as the U.S. system exists now,

would you like to transport that to Europe? No, no, why would I do that to you?
