Summary

Brian Becker and Dr. Gerald Horne discuss the one-year anniversary of the January 6th assault on the U.S. Capitol, encouraged and organized by Donald Trump. He holds the Moores Professorship of History and African American Studies at the University of Houston and is the author of many books, including “The Color of Fascism: Lawrence Dennis, Racial Passing, and the Rise of Right-Wing Extremism in the United States,” and “The Counter-Revolution of 1776: Slave Resistance and the Origins of the United States of America.”

1:35.6	something unprecedented in U.S. history. Donald Trump had presumably wanted to take ownership

1:45.2	Maro Lago, his country club resort. But, you know, perhaps wiser, tactically more shrewd minds
1:54.0	within the Republican Party like Lindsey Graham have convinced him to cancel his press conference.
2:00.0	And they thought it would be bad for the optics.
2:03.0	But Donald Trump said this about the cancellation.
2:06.7	Remember, the insurrection took place on November 3rd.
2:11.8	It was the complete unarmed protest of the rigged elections that took place on January 6th. So the insurrection,
2:22.3	the sedition was the election. January 6th was a righteous protest to save American democracy.
