I am 33 years old and I was born and raised in Brooklyn.

I moved back to New York after graduating from college.

And I moved in with my mom because I could not afford even to have roommates in an apartment.

Or I guess I could have afforded it, but it was like I had this goal already of wanting to open a bar restaurant.

And I knew that I had to be saving money.

I was being paid $35,000 a year in 2012 and I was working 90 hours a week.

I didn't want to give up on this dream.

But every time I felt like my goal is to hit this amount saved.

Every time I hit it, I would then check real estate and other expenses of businesses and every cost would have increased.

So much that it was like I wasn't moving forward with the amount I was saving.

Like I was keeping up with inflation and that was it.

I was getting involved in bartender events that brought people in from around the country and encouraged networking.
