My rant today over at HartmanReport.com, the Senate is 50-50, but America is not.

Abraham Lincoln, Benjamin Harrison, and Ulysses S. Grant, all added states well below the actual

threshold, the legal threshold for adding a state, specifically to cement Republican control

of the United States Senate in the 1860s, the 1870s, and the 1890s, all three of them, nakedly

political. Lincoln did it, Grant did it, Harrison did it, and it's getting time for Biden to do it,

and then I get into this rant about how, you know, on the weekend I heard Mitch McConnell on

TV going, well, we've got a 50-50 Senate right now, we've got a 50-50 nation, which is of course a

lie. Yes, the Senate's 50-50, but the nation's not 50-50, and then Sunday morning I was listening

to NPR when I was getting dressed, and I was hearing this, I believe it was a news report,

and the guy he was talking to said, well, America is a 50-50 nation, and I was waiting for

somebody to push back and nobody ever did, and then an hour later I heard it again,

this time on CNN, in fact, it provoked me to tweet about this. Again, America is a 50-50 nation.

This is the new Republican meme, and basically what they're trying to say is, don't get upset about

McConnell and the GOP's obstruction, when half the country doesn't want something and deadlocks

...
