let's check in with how people are responding to pollsters let me first say that I do look at polls. I don't want to say I don't, but I very rarely talk

about polls on the show. And the reason is as a student of campaigns for over 30 years, 35 years,

one thing I've noticed, going back and looking at polls all the way till

FDR defeats Wendell Wilkie, which was kind of the beginning of polling so to speak. One thing you learn and I'll give you the best example of this

1992. George H Bush, after the 91 invasion of Iraq, the first one, when Saddam is left in power.

George H.W. Bush's approval rating is the highest of any president in the era of polling.

It's never even approached that.

90%. So a lot of Democrats who were considered strong

contenders for the presidency decided let's sit this one out because there's no beating this guy.

He, you know, we won the Iraq war, that was the first Iraq war. You know, the mother of all wars turned out to be, they turned tail and ran. And Schwartzkoff ended up getting more credit than George H. W. Bush was very popular.

These were good times.

And Bill Clinton received 2% of the vote in the Democrat primary that year. So the polling would tell you that if the guy who got 2% in Iowa ends up in
