It is time to join a regular guest, Conrad Black, Lord Black, the author of a president like no other.

Lord Black, have you seen the footage at Mar-a-Lago this weekend after the president's acquittal

in his return from the golf course? I have. He was advancing at celebrity speed along southern

Boulevard that crosses over the causeway right beside Mar-a-Lago. He was moving it as far as I

could see, but three miles an hour in order to make sure that there was as much visible contact

as you could get with a group like that. I thought it was impressive. It had to be completely

spontaneous. We say, well, no one is coming back from the golf course. Of course, and not only that,

they had no idea that he would have been acquitted at the weekend on Saturday. Let me ask you,

as somebody who spent so much time researching and publishing as seminal works on a prior

president's, were you as surprised as somewhere that this acquittal came on Saturday so early after

the defense team rested after just four hours of argument? Not really. I think there was nothing

left to debate. There were no one decided. The Democrats had the Democratic leadership at their

own purposes in launching this hair-brain nonsense. I knew it wasn't going to succeed, but they

thought that tactically it would be a success. There was no point to prolong it. I think both,

well, the Democrats in particular didn't want to start the process of calling witnesses,

because I knew that if they tied up the Senate for weeks on end, it would really wear down
