0:41.0

Not feeling too good. If you heard yesterday's show, you know he was struggling with his voice, but he's getting some rest, some relaxation. He'll be back next week in the meantime.

This show is brought to you by the letter I remember Sesame Street. Well, guess what? It feels like America first is brought to you by those letters as well because we are talking Iran and impeachment Nancy Pelosi after saying this yesterday to reporters.

1:06.0

No, I'm not holding them in definitely. I'll send them over when I'm ready. And that will probably be soon. I don't. You know, he said if you don't send them over, I'm going to pass in Mexico, US Canada, trade agreement. Okay. But no, we want to see what they're willing to do.

1:23.0

Well, Nancy Pelosi, a bling she was under pressure from about 12 Senate Democrats and King and independent also saying it's time Nancy. If you think this is an imminent threat, if you think the president needs to be removed at his time to bring the articles of impeachment to the Senate.

1:39.0

And it looks like we may see an impeachment trial start next week. Greg Jarrett joins us right now. Such a pleasure to talk to Greg. I'm a big fan of all of his work. He's illegal and political analyst for Fox News Channel. He's the author of a great book, The Russia Hokes and which on available wherever books are sold. Greg Jarrett, welcome to America first. Thanks for joining us.

Jennifer, nice to be with you. Good afternoon. Nice to talk to you again. So this is some big news. It looks like after a couple of weeks of of a standoff. Nancy Pelosi finally blinked and we might see an impeachment trial start next week. What do you think that looks like as we, what are you hearing? Are you think Mitch McConnell is going to stick to his guns and and move through without calling any new witnesses or is there going to be too much pressure on him?

2:25.0

Well, he didn't capitulate to Nancy Pelosi's extortion attempt demanding a quid pro quo, which is slightly ironic. So she's accusing the president of an impeachable quid pro quo.

2:42.0

What did they say if Democrats didn't have double standards? They'd have no standards at all.

2:47.0

Yes, that's pretty much true. Look, the first thing that would happen is, and I'm dubious that the trial itself would begin in earnest next week. I mean, first of all, Pelosi is suggesting on Tuesday she'll send the articles over, but she's, she's got to get a resolution on that past by the house, which though surely pass.

3:13.0

But then you have to, you know, she hasn't even announced her selection of house managers yet. So I mean, that has to be done. And you know, you just don't hand over articles on a Tuesday and the trial begins on a Wednesday. There's, there's what's known as trial preparation.

3:30.0

The White House has to be given sufficient notice and provided with a presentment of the charges so that they can rebut them. So I'd be shocked if a trial actually began next week, maybe the week after.

3:46.0

But a trial is essentially not at all like a trial in a court of law.

3:54.0

This is going to be a lot different. Now, it's a, you know, it's a political vehicle and it was intended that way by the framers.

4:02.0

But you will have, and you know, I covered the Clinton trial back in 1999 from the nation's capital. I was there. I watched all of it.

4:12.0

And you have a presuming of the charges by the house. And then you have the equivalent of opening statements by both sides.

4:22.0

At that point in the Clinton case, then there was a, a debate is whether they needed any witnesses. In the end, there were no live witnesses. They deposed three witnesses and then played video excerpts as part of the presentation of evidence.

4:40.0

So it may look very similar to that. The Clinton case dragged on for weeks. This will not. It should be shorter, but much will depend upon a majority house vote on on witnesses.

4:54.0

You know, Greg Jared, we are visiting with Greg Jared. You know him from Fox News. He's a great writer. You can follow him on Twitter at Greg Jared. That's two Gs in Greg. And you can also look at his website, the Greg Jared.com. You called this effort from Nancy Pelosi and extortion attempt. That's exactly what it was. She was that she was trying to dictate the rules of the Senate.

5:13.0

A speaker of the house when she allowed Republicans no input on the rules that Democrats used it during their house proceedings. What do you think her motivation was? Do you think this is because as Lindsey Graham said, the impeachment dam is crumbling around her.

5:28.0

There's been some talk and speculation that she heard John Dean on CNN say that she should just hold on to them forever so that it'll always be part of Trump's legacy that he was impeached.
