The striking coincidences Arlington police detectives working nine-year-old Amber Renee Hagerman's case came across, or just that.

Coincidences.

But nonetheless, they were difficult for any human mind to come to terms with.

Amber's niece, newborn Felicia Hagerman, was kidnapped from John Peter Smith Hospital

about four and a half years before she herself was abducted.

It was a statistical anomaly that also weighed heavy on the mind of Amber's father

and Felicia's grandfather, Richard Hagerman.

Luckily, Felicia was found unharmed.

Conversely and tragically, Amber's body was found late on the night of Wednesday, January

17, 1996, four days after she was snatched off her bicycle, six miles to the south.

The discovery of Amber Hagerman's body was an unthinkable coincidence for 36-year-old

Stuart Coker, whose dog Yoda led him to her.

He had found another body about a year prior.

The creek where Amber was found floating, face down, and unclothed, save a single sock on her right foot,

ran alongside the Forest Ridge apartments in northeast

Arlington. A week after that terrible day, stretched thin and loath to encounter yet another

coincidence. The Arlington police responded to a disturbing call at that very same complex.

Just after midnight on Wednesday, January 24th, 1996, a couple living at the Forest Ridge

apartments heard a baby crying.

Such a sound isn't necessarily alarming, or at least not a sound that inspires panic,
