Here's Nancy De Maswalgamuth with a New Year's Day story.

January 1st, 1773 was a Friday.

And a small congregation in a small village about 40 miles north of London, England, gathered for a New Year's Day service.

During that service, the pastor introduced a hymn that he had written especially for the occasion.

Now the title that he gave it that day is not

particularly memorable. He called it Faith's Review and Expectation. Anyone here

familiar with that him? She's seeing that in your church last Sunday?

Well, those lyrics have been preserved

and have become what is probably the best known him in the world.

And today we know it by a different name, by a the

sound in the world and today we know it by a different name by its first line

Amazing Grace.

How sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me.
