Gardening Podcast. For those of you who are just tuning in, this is the third

episode in a five-part series of my conversation with Koleed, also known as the Plant Charmer on

Instagram. So he's a friend that I've known for a while now and we have been talking about

an update on his farm, which he runs up in Canada and how he grows absolutely amazing

strawberries and one of the most interesting things about him is that he does all this in

a vertical gardening setup.

It's not hydroponic, it's he uses soil, but what we're going to talk

about in today's episode is why he chose to grow vertically. He got a lot of

criticism about it, he got a lot of puzzled looks because he's putting vertical A frames right over what you might consider to be fertile land.

So in this episode we're going to talk about why he does that and why he thinks that's actually the future of small scale urban farming.

So hey let's talk about vertical farming because if you're known for two things I would say

it's probably the vertical farming and then probably

what you grow in there namely those strawberries at least at the beginning in the

early days. And so I mean I'm sure a lot of people know the basic logic behind why you would farm vertically, but I mean

you got a ton of pushback or questioning about the way that you grew when you decided to take

vertical and actually apply it to like a real

commercial farm. So maybe you just talk a little bit about just like...

Some people might say, wow, I mean, I'm looking at your land right now and you're putting

A-frames on top of land that you could be growing it, you know? Absolutely.
