1:15.0	the United States Senate has overwhelmingly
1:17.1	passed a bill this week to combat hate crimes
1:20.3	and discrimination against Asian communities.
1:23.6	The bill also creates a new position of the Justice Department
1:27.4	to deal with COVID-related hate crimes.
1:30.4	Here's Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer.
1:33.0	This bill has a one-two punch.
1:36.0	To assure the Asian American community
1:39.0	we're going after the bigotry against them
1:42.0	and to tell the American people particularly those
1:44.5	bigots were going after you in a legal way of course.
1:49.4	Now this follows the fatal shooting of six Asian women in Atlanta last month and an increase in violence against Asian Americans during the pandemic.
