president came to bitterly regret not least because the nation still is at war,

and US forces are still there.

It's a lesson in politics versus reality as the pandemic rages on, nearly 230,000 Americans are dead, and a record nearly half a million have

tested positive for COVID in the last week alone, leaving the United States

with the highest casualty level in the world.
