The United States Supreme Court has denied President Trump's emergency bid to cancel nearly $2 billion in USAID wasteful spending.

They have denied his attempt to do that in a ruling that came out this morning.

The good news is we have Mr. Smarty Pants, Professor Josh Blackman of the South Texas College

of Law as our guest to explain what this means.

Professor, take it away.

What happened here, Michael, is that Trump tried to block funding for USAID, all bizarre programs he listed, you know, last night at Congress.

A bunch of groups who were going to get the money said, no, no, we need that money.

They found a federal judge in D.C. who said, I'm going to issue a global order.

The Trump must spend $2 billion. That's billion with a B, letter B, $2 billion in these foreign

policy programs.

Trump ran to the Supreme Court, and the Supreme Court basically said, well, we're not going to

stop this judge yet, but maybe we'll stop them later.

We don't really want to do anything about it.

The court split five to four in

dissent with Justice Alito, Thomas, Gorsuch, and Kavanaugh, and you can do the math. That means

Chief Justice Roberts and Justice Barrett join the court's liberals. And this is something you

and I've talked about a lot of late, how Justice Barrett and Chief Justice Roberts seem to keep

ruling against Trump. It's just amazing how they do that.

And what happens next is actually unclear.
