The Michael Dairy Show is on the air. My friend Michael Robinson from College Station says, I think the Michael Patronella you're looking for is from Brian College Station slash Caldwell, which would make

sense because there's a real Pizza Hut in Caldwell too. I don't think the other Pizza Huts are not

real Pizza Hut, they're just not the Classic Pizza Hut. And the Classic Pizza Hut just proves my point. What's old is new again.

And it's about more than vintage. This is a deeper point.

Why do we want to go to a pizza hut from the 70s?

Why do we want to go to a place that when they remodel they don't use all the fancy new stuff, why do we want to go back to the old stuff?

It's sort of like there are certain smells that remind you of Grandma's house or Grandma's

cooking or elementary. or

Grandma's cooking or elementary school or who knows what else that you have a fond

memory of and it triggers it opens up in your memory palace a whole room that

you'd forgotten about that is a happy memory place.

And why is that the case?

Because of what we were just talking about a moment ago, that people feel uncomfortable

talking about religion and politics, that people feel uncomfortable talking about

race, that people feel uncomfortable talking about anything.

And rather than fix the problem, which is start talking about it, they instead go more insular.

There are consequences to this. You go to an airport today or a

grocery store. Although grocery stores is a little less the case because they're geographic.

So you can mostly gross rate around people that share your values, you know, rural grocery stores versus suburban grocery stores versus
